Khashoggi: UN says Saudi trial in case 'not sufficient'

The state-run Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that at the court session, which was held in Riyadh, the prosecutor demanded that "proper punishments" be imposed against the 11 defendants and that "capital punishment" sentences be handed to five of them over their direct involvement in the killing. The statement from the prosecutor said the suspects attended the hearing in the presence of their lawyers.
The statement also said that prosecutors sent a request to Turkey for evidence that Ankara has collected over the October 2 slaying of Khashoggi at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.
The episode in question featured an American comedian, Hasan Minhaj, mocking the official Saudi version of what happened inside their consulate in Istanbul last October, where the journalist Jamal Khashoggi was murdered.
"This is why a UN-led and independent investigation is needed into the murder".
