MELBOURNE: A clinical India mopped up Australia's tail to win the third Test in Melbourne on Sunday by 137 runs and take an unassailable 2-1 lead into the final clash at Sydney.

India, denied victory on day four by the tail-end resistance of Pat Cummins, were forced to wait almost two-and-a-half hours for play to begin due to rain at the Melbourne Cricket Ground but when the weather cleared their bowlers wrapped up the Australia innings for 261 in 22 minutes.

Pat Cummins had shown some lower-order resistance on the fourth day but was removed by a flawless delivery from Jasprit Bumrah, one that pitched in line with off stump and made Cummins play but moved off the seam inducing a thick edge.

Five balls later, Ishant Sharma got rid of Nathan Lyon (7), caught behind as Rishabh Pant took his 20th dismissal in this series, which is highest by any Indian wicket-keeper.

Patriots Should Be Concerned About Tom Brady's Poor Play Despite Clinching Division
After being asked about his quarterback's future, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick was not interested in talking about Brady. Brady said that after nearly two decades in the league, he continues to view football as the greatest "gift" in his life.

The wicket triggered bear hugs and backslaps among the Indian players as travelling fans in the sparse crowd roared with joy.

India, the world's top-ranked nation, are now zeroing in on a first-ever series win Down Under in Sydney later this week, where they only need a draw to smash the long-time jinx.

It is a feat that skipper Virat Kohli has so publicly coveted since his men arrived in Australia last month.

"The job is not done yet". We want to win the last Test match as well, if an opportunity comes our way. They grind you down and force you to make a mistake. I certainly feel proud as a captain when they bowl in partnerships.

Advancing issues outnumbered decliners by a 1.45-to-1 ratio on the NYSE and a 2.15-to-1 ratio on the Nasdaq. Hong Kong's Hang Seng advanced 0.2 percent to 25,531.63 and Seoul's Kospi added 0.6 percent to 2,040.76.

Jasprit Bumrah returned career-best figures of 6/33 in the first innings to bowl Australia out for 151 helping India to a big first-innings lead. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja grabbed three wickets apiece in the second innings.

India had quite an eventful year in terms of Test cricket as they have played most of their games overseas (South Africa, England, and Australia) and played just three games at home against the debutants Afghanistan and West Indies team.

With the win at the MCG, Kohli registered 11 Test victories as the captain in 24 Tests away from home.

Cricket Australia's decision to ban Steve Smith and David Warner for a year over their roles in the ball-tampering affair in Cape Town in March has left the team's batting ranks severely weakened. He knew that wickets are going to come at some stage. That is a factor why we are having a lot of starts, because they are just bowling really well and making it really hard to score.
