CAF strips Cameroon of AFCON 2019 hosting rights

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has stripped Cameroon of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations hosting rights, because of concerns about the country's security and infrastructure.

Ahmed was speaking after a 10 hour CAF executive meeting held behind closed doors in the Ghanaian capital.

Countries have until the end of December to submit bids for the tournament, which starts in June.

Despite CAF president Ahmad Ahmad assuring that the tournament won't be moved from Cameroon after receiving assurances from the hosting nation, the continental federation have opted for otherwise on Friday. South Africa, hosts of the 2010 World Cup, could also be a viable option for CAF.

The final game of the 2018 AWCON would take place on Saturday, as the Super Falcons of Nigeria and the Bayana Bayana fight to be crowned the female champions of Africa.

A report of the last two inspection visits to central African state Cameroon were made at Friday's meeting.

Ahmad meanwhile appeared to hold out an olive branch to Cameroon.
