Yemen's Houthi rebels said they launched a drone air attack on a royal Saudi air force base in the Saudi southern border province on Saturday, rebel-run Al-Masirah TV reported.

Geert Cappelaere said in an interview that recent USA calls for a cease-fire are imperative to ending the almost four-year war, which pits a Saudi-led coalition against Iran-aligned rebels known as Houthis.

The Saudi Royal Air Force intercepted a missile over Najran on Friday, fired by the Houthi militia, according to the Arab coalition supporting legitimacy in Yemen.

The airstrikes in Sanaa came days after a US call for an urgent halt to the Saudi-Iran proxy war in Yemen and the start of negotiations in November toward a political settlement of the conflict. The war has left almost 10,000 people dead and unleashed what the United Nations describes as the world's worst humanitarian crisis.

USA defence secretary Jim Mattis and secretary of state Mike Pompeo have called for an end to the Yemen war, including air strikes by the coalition.

Jamal Khashoggi body was dissolved in acid, says Turkish official
Aktay was first government official that Hatice Cengiz, Khashoggi's fiancee, called when he didn't emerge from the consulate. The president has since said he is not satisfied with the Saudi Arabian government's explanation of the journalist's death.

The US and United Nations have called for a ceasefire and proposed to convene peace talks in Sweden to end Yemen's three-and-half years war.

Aviation at the airport and worldwide aid efforts were not affected, Colonel Turki al-Malki said.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Tuesday that the so-called Saudi-led coalition "airstrikes must cease in all populated areas in Yemen".

Fighting was focused around the airport, which the coalition failed to seize in a previous offensive, and also at the eastern entrance to the city and near a university that lies 4 km south of the port, which handles most of Yemen's imports.

The United Nations Children's Fund regional director said over the weekend that Yemeni authorities - both from the pro-government and rebel side - are making it "impossible" to deliver and distribute much-needed humanitarian aid to the country.

After all, Baldwin portrays Trump on Saturday Night Live - and Baldwin's portrayal is anything but flattering. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. local time in the Greenwich Village area, according to CBS New York .

The united Nations Fund for children (Unicef) urged on Sunday the conflicting parties in Yemen to stop fighting, believing that the country had become a "hell on earth" for children, hit by starvation.

Yemen has been at war since March 2015, when Houthis occupied northern Yemen, forcing the government into exile.

The Houthis are still masters of the capital Sana'a and hold other cities like Hodeida, the point of entry for three quarters of Yemen's imports.

Some rights groups estimate the toll could be five times higher.
