Mary Kom creates history after winning Sixth World Championship Title 2018

This was her 6th gold medal at the Women's World Championships.

India's legendary boxer MC Mary Kom defeated Ukraine's Hanna Okhota in the 48 kg-category final of the Women's World Boxing Championship on Saturday in New Delhi. With the exception of a few Ukrainian fans, a packed crowd was waiting with bated breath for the veteran boxer to claim a record sixth World title and the 35-year old did not disappoint.

The 35-year-old Indian boxer has now won seven medals at Worlds, a silver to go with her six gold. With the comprehensive victory over her opponent on Saturday, the Manipur-born boxer surpassed the Irish punch-machine and now sits as the joint most successful boxer (Men and Women) in the history of World Championships, tied with Cuban legend Felix Savon. I won my last World Championships gold in 2010 and then there is this change of weight category for Olympics. I don't have anything to give except for a gold in the country.

"I have fought in the 48kg category for many years and I fought in the 51kg category because of qualification".
