Aussie cricket union urges cut to Smith, Warner bans

Bans imposed on Warner, Smith and Bancroft for their role in the Newlands ball-tampering scandal should be re-examined in light of systemic failings raised by the independent reviews into CA, the players union president Greg Dyer said.

Longstaff's 147-page report, based on interviews with players, sponsors and other stakeholders, said Cricket Australia had consistently failed to live up to its values and principles and a culture of disrespect and bullying ran through the organization.

Warner and Smith each received one-year suspensions while Bancroft was banned for nine months following the ball-tampering scandal in March this year.

A scathing review has blamed Australian cricket's ball-tampering scandal on an "arrogant" and "controlling" culture overseen by the game's national governing body that led to players cheating in pursuit of victory.

The Australian Cricketers' Association responded by calling for penalties handed down to Australia captain Smith, his deputy Warner and opening batsman Bancroft to be reconsidered.

"Consultations With RBI In Public Interest": Government Amid Autonomy Row
There is an "irreversible breakdown between RBI governor and the government", one of the source added. Sources in the ministry of finance told Firstpost that Section 7 of the RBI Act has not been invoked.

Also included in the findings was an acknowledgment the players weren't the only ones at fault for the ball tampering controversy in South Africa, placing part of the blame on the toxic culture emanating from head office.

"The players have already lost time in the game, chances to play for Australia, endured public humiliation and face massive financial penalties", Dyer said. Peever and the new chief executive, Kevin Roberts, were also firm on CA's stance not to consider reducing the trio's lengthy bans.

Steven Smith and David Warner.

"I think the sanctions were probably too harsh and they should be allowed to play domestic cricket at least", he said.

This brings with it a ban of up to six Tests and 12 ODIs, unlike the one match handed to Smith and purely a fine for Bancroft (Warner wasn't punished by ICC).

Typing isn't the spongy experience it has been on the MacBook Air previously and only you'll know whether you like that or not. It's been so long since the MacBook Air has had an update that pretty much everything has been refreshed in one way or another.

"I know all involved, would have preferred that the events in South Africa didn't occur", Peever added.

Lehmann, who will be behind the microphone for Australia's first one-day worldwide against South Africa in Perth on Sunday, said the governing body offered psychological support "but you could always have more, can't you?" "I'd like to see Mark Taylor stand up as chairman of Cricket Australia", he said.

"They should now be playing Big Bash and Shield cricket this year in Australia, without a doubt". Although, it cannot be denied that the three players had made a mistake.

Australian cricket has been regularly criticised for its win-at-all-costs mentality.

"They gave us a lot of feedback around that and that came through the overall Longstaff report", Nicholson said.

Pistons improve to 4-0 with win over Cavaliers
Kyle Kuzma scored 22 points and JaVale McGee added 21 to complement James' 74th career triple-double, his first with his new team. Cleveland ultimately dropped the game by the scored of 102-86 and has been outscored by a combined 58 points in four games.

"We want to make a respectful submission to the CA board on the question of this new evidence which has been provided by the Longstaff report, which is a very substantial document".
