  • Trump renews attacks on ‘the Jeff Sessions Justice Department’

President Donald Trump escalated his attacks on Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Monday, suggesting the Department of Justice put Republicans in midterm jeopardy with recent indictments of two GOP congressmen.

A decision by the Justice Department to hold off on prosecuting two Republican congressmen up for re-election in order to help them win would have been highly unethical and a blatantly politically motivated violation of the department's nonpartisan mission. He's made abundantly clear his feelings on the role that Sessions and the Justice Department should play in protecting him and targeting Hillary Clinton.

But he was apparently referring to the first two Republicans to endorse him in the GOP presidential primaries. Immediately he became a wonderful man, a saint like figure in fact.

In particular, Napolitano turned a critical eye to Trump's tweet attacking Sessions for letting the Department of Justice file charges against Reps. Democratic Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia voted for Sessions when he was confirmed as attorney general by a 52-47 vote in February 2017.

Samsung also previewed a new voice-assisted speaker, the Galaxy Home , using its homegrown digital assistant, Bixby. Samsung is said to be working on three different models of the Galaxy S10 , according to an earlier ETNews report .

A few minutes after the tweet on Sessions, Trump added a second tweet attacking former Federal Bureau of Investigation director James B. Comey, asserting that Democrats did not like Comey until Trump fired him in 2017.

"This tweet alone may be an impeachable offense", Toobin stated.

The tension between Mr Trump and Mr Sessions boiled over recently with Mr Sessions punching back, saying that he and his department "will not be improperly influenced by political considerations".

The Fox analyst said it seemed inappropriate for Trump to weigh in and say the DOJ should not be investigating his congressional allies because it could hurt the party in the midterm elections.

NAFTA talks between Canada, US conclude; reports no deal made
This method allows Congress to approve a deal with a simple majority vote, avoiding a possible filibuster in the Senate. Lighthizer said on Monday Mexico had agreed to cut the mechanism but Canada wants to keep dispute resolution in NAFTA.

His comments came a day after Trump railed against Sessions for investigations into a pair of Republican congressmen.

Sen Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) tweeted that Trump was "looking to use the Department of Justice to settle political scores".

The tweet also amounts to Trump's latest broadside against his attorney general, whose recusal from the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 campaign Trump has refused to forgive and continued to fume about.

He later added, "The sentiment at the core of that tweet is so contrary to the mission of the Department of Justice, and it's such an insult to the decent people who work there".
