  • Employment overall lags, while trucking adds 4400 jobs in July

Overall, U.S. employers added 157,000 jobs in July.

Thirty-seven percent of responding small business owners said they had job openings they could not fill, the highest number since the Monthly Jobs Report began, the NFIB said August 2.

US employers slowed their hiring in July, adding 157,000 jobs, a solid gain but below the healthy pace they maintained in the first half of this year. Last week, the commerce department reported that GDP had grown at an annual rate of 4.1% in the second quarter, the fastest pace in almost four years. The July gain is the 93rd consecutive month of job growth. In June, there was a surge in the number of people re-entering the labor force, while the number of those who gave up on their job searches fell. While the data mark a solid start to the quarter and should keep the Fed on track for an interest-rate hike in September, a widening trade war threatens to curb growth in the labor market. Over the month, employment edged up in temporary help services (+28,000) and in computer systems design and related services (+8,000). The monthly increase in wages was an improvement from June's 0.1% increase.

President Donald Trump's administration has imposed duties on steel and aluminum imports, provoking retaliation by the United States' trade partners, including China, Canada, Mexico and the European Union.

The unemployment rate remains at a record low as employers fall slightly short of analyst's expectations for July. The BLS also provides a rate that counts in people who looked for work in the past 12 months as well as people who work part-time but want a full-time job.

The additional signs of strength in the job market could add to concerns the Federal Reserve would move to raise the key lending rate more aggressively. Consumer prices rose 2.9 percent in June from a year earlier, more than the average wage gain.

Don’t take risky Kiki Challenge, warn police
He said the police would take strict action against those who were found involved in taking up the dance challenge. However, he also reminded his followers that the challenge is not about getting out of a moving auto .

Despite many businesses' trouble finding qualified workers, they are still hiring and looking outside traditional pools for talent.

Employment in food services and drinking places continued to trend up over the month (+26,000). Over the past year, it has hired more than a half-million Americans and stands as the leading job-creating sector. Utilities employment fell for a third straight month and the finance and insurance industry shed 9,400 jobs last month. Employment rose in transportation equipment (+13,000), machinery (+6,000), and electronic instruments (+2,000).
