Oxfam pressed over allegations senior aid staff used prostitutes in Haiti

Responding to the report, Oxfam denied it was behind a "cover-up" to protect its reputation.
Roland van Hauwermeiren, 68, who Oxfam has confirmed was forced to resign as Haiti country director in 2011 after allegedly admitting hiring prostitutes, went on to become head of mission for Action Against Hunger in Bangladesh in 2014, according to The Times.
Paying for prostitutes is illegal in Haiti and goes against Oxfam's code of conduct for worldwide staff. Oxfam has admitted that no criminal reports were made to the Haitian authorities because "it was extremely unlikely that any action would be taken".
An investigation by the Times newspaper found the charity had sacked four people for gross misconduct and allowed three to resign after an inquiry looking into behaviour in Haiti, where Oxfam helped the global relief effort after the quake in 2010.
